Photocatalytic Denitrification of Nitrate Using Fe-TiO2-Coated Clay Filters

In this work, 3D-structured clay filters were prepared and coated with iron-doped titanium dioxide (Fe-TiO2) using 3D printing sol–gel soaking calcination techniques. Three-dimensional was employed to mold shape the before annealing. The uncoated characterized for different properties, i.e., morphology, optical crystalline structure, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), UV/Vis diffused reflectance (DRS), diffraction (XRD). FESEM images show uniform coatings of round-shaped Fe-TiO2 on tiny pore filter. energy band gap obtained coating around 2.8 eV, estimated by Tauc’s plot, compared 3.2 eV pristine anatase TiO2. XRD spectra data processed through software revealed TiO2 filter surface phase anatase. photocatalytic performance bare initially tested degradation indigo carmine (IC) dye results suggested IC Afterward, denitrification nitrate NO3 at various concentrations performed Fe-TiO2-coated analyzing total nitrogen (TN) analysis reduction nitrite (NO2−), monoxide (NO), gas (N2). TN up 81% efficiency 30 ppm solution response that has a high potential applications under natural sunlight.
